"DON'T TINKLE IN MY T-VIRUS AND TELL ME IT'S SNOWING."
Bundle up! Welcome to the chilling debut episode of Pop Scorn with Rick & Topsy!
It's a new discussion series where the guys dissect movie news, gaming adaptations, industry disasters, bizarre interviews, and whatever cursed media chaos the internet is currently melting down over. In this first episode, Rick & Topsy first watch the teaser trailer for Zach Cregger's Resident Evil reboot, then dive headfirst into the growing controversy surrounding the already divisive reboot and the increasingly strange PR surrounding it.
From confusing interviews to fans accusing the production of gaslighting the audience, the guys break down the internet firestorm surrounding Cregger openly admitting he planned to tell this story whether it became Resident Evil or not. MOVIE/TOPIC BIO:
Zach Cregger is an actor, comedian, and filmmaker best known for directing the horror film Barbarian and Weapons (and of course, The Whitest Kids You Know). He is currently attached to direct a new Resident Evil reboot film for Sony Pictures. The project has sparked major online discussion after comments suggesting the story was largely conceived independently of the Resident Evil IP before becoming attached to the franchise. A film that should by all accounts be set in a September heatwave in of 1998 is set during a blizzard and littered with iPhones and modern cars. The reboot arrives after decades of divisive Resident Evil adaptations spanning live-action films, Netflix series, and animated projects.
