"THIS KINGDOM
ISN'T WORTH SAVING."
Rick, Flux, Pickles, and Cylon take a well-deserved victory lap after blazing through The Legend of Zelda on NES with near-speedrun efficiency. Spirits are high, morale is strong… until they fire up Zelda II: The Adventure of Link and get absolutely demolished. Hyrule has never been more unforgiving, and it isn’t long before the gang is ready to officially crown Zelda II the “original Dark Souls.”
With cheap enemy spawns, brutal platforming, and magic management that feels like an unpaid internship, the crew quickly decides to chalk this up as a one-and-done disaster. No shame. No regrets. And next time? They’ll be diving into A Link to the Past—where the pixels are prettier and the pain (hopefully) less soul-crushing.
GAME BIO: The Legend of Zelda (1986) introduced players to the vast, open-ended world of Hyrule and set the standard for action-adventure games. Zelda II: The Adventure of Link (1987) took a wildly different approach with side-scrolling combat, RPG elements, and crushing difficulty. Though divisive among fans, Zelda II remains one of the most challenging—and punishing—entries in the franchise’s history.
