Mega Man's Soccer

1 Episode | 26 minutes | Airdate: Mar. 5th, 2018
"YEAH, UH... I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT SPORTS."

Who's up for some classic Mega Man platform shooting? Well, too bad. We're playing Mega Man's Soccer. Fresh off the accidental birth of Robot Co-Op lore with Countdown Vampires, Rick and Flux immediately pivot to the second game ever streamed on the channel: Mega Man Soccer. The tonal shift is whiplash-inducing. Robot Masters take the field. Soccer rules become optional. Physics quietly leave the room. What unfolds is a baffling mix of stiff animations, unhinged AI behavior, and a sports game that seems only loosely aware it’s supposed to be about soccer. Rick and Flux riff their way through it in real time, discovering that Mega Man with a ball is somehow less coherent than Mega Man fighting a sentient trash compactor. Then, just when the stream seems ready to move on, Rick caps the night with an embarrassing tattoo reveal, instantly cementing the unspoken rule of early Robot Co-Op: Every stream must end with either a cursed game, a cursed decision, or permanent evidence of poor judgment. Sometimes all three. GAME BIO: Mega Man Soccer is a 1994 SNES spin-off that places Mega Man and the Robot Masters into a futuristic soccer league. Known for its odd mechanics, minimal rules enforcement, and characters who appear more interested in violence than sportsmanship, the game has earned cult status as one of the stranger entries in Capcom’s history — and a perfect fit for early Robot Co-Op chaos.
